Today açaí is venerated in popular songs and festivals, which are held in its honor, in scattered villages during the fruit harvesting season.
Archaeological evidence indicates that the fruit of the açaí palm has been a component of the diet of estuarine inhabitants since ancient times (McCann 1999; Roosevelt et al. 1996). These palms grow naturally everywhere. Most of the organic acai berries we get are not from farms but from wild harvested palms on small islands in the river. Its really quite something.
