Amazon Paper - A woman hand cuts pieces of curauá (Ananas erectifolius), one of the toughest fibers known to man. The cut pieces will be washed and boiled, softening them for the next step in the production.
The Japanese paper master, Junpei Kanazashi, spends a few months each year teaching the dying art of natural paper making and coloring. Edson Castro, his Brazilian apprentice, is placing a new sheet of wet paper on top the stack. The stack will be pressed to remove residual water than laid out to dry.
